Summer 2011

So we have not posted in a while! A month to be exact. In this post, there are several happening events from a trip to Dallas, cookouts & camping, and the 4th of July. Our summer is loaded with events so we will try our hardest to post as much as possible!

~ Girls Trip ~

After school finished up for the semester, two of my best girl friends from Lubbock took a trip to Dallas. Laura and I are from that area but Jenny is from Washington so we wanted to take her out and show her the town. Here are some rather goofy pics of us! We had too much fun and made a ton of memories! These are such good girls and have come to be amazing friends of mine. I love them!

We decided to celebrate all three events going on in our lives. So we made a cake! We celebrated my birthday, Laura's graduation from LCU, and Jenny moving back to Washington.

~ The Family Cookout #1 ~

Dan & Sabrena and Brad & Carissa came to visit all of us in Lubbock. We had a huge family cook out with good food! It was good to see everyone, hang out, and relax.

~ The Lazy Lacey Pool ~

Since it has hardly rained in Lubbock in about 9 months, we got a pool. It was definitely an investment and was well worth the big bucks!! We love swimming and laying out by our new pool. Rachelle broke it in real well!

~ The Camping Virgins ~

I can not say that I have truly ever camped. Yes, I've been to the lake and spent the night in a cabin (attempting to sleep on a cot) but I personally have never spent an entire night in a tent with only blankets. We didn't even have an air mattress! I am proud of myself and Cody is proud of me too!! Anyway, Greg & Rachelle and Cody & I went camping a couple of weekends ago at Buffalo Springs Lake just right outside of Lubbock. It was an adventure!! Rachelle was new to the whole "sleeping in a tent" thing too so we learned quite a bit. Here is a list of things that we will take into consideration the next time the gang goes "in to the wild" and camps.

1. Never set up base (camp site) next to a group of campers that have a generator running 24/7 so their R.V. can be air conditioned. What kind of camping is that anyways?

2. Find a camp site that is near restrooms that HAVE bathroom doors on their stalls. Let me just say that Rachelle being my "door" and me being Rachelle's "door" is fine. But the older lady standing in the next stall was a sight to see!!! Not that we were looking.

3. Just because all four of us did not have alarm clocks set on our iphones did not mean that we would not be blessed with a cute little birdie that would be so nice to sing a sweet little song so EARLY in the morning! Nature's alarm clock rings a lot earlier than ours ever do!

4. That swimming shoes is a MUST in Lubbock lakes.

5. Rachelle and I are highly capable of "roughing it".

~ Crazy Colton's Birthday ~

My little cousin (and our ring bearer in our wedding) recently had a big birthday. He just turned six!! Some of the family got together and had dinner to celebrate Colton's birthday. We had a great time and  were entertained by the "emperor".

~ Buffalo Gap ~

We met my parents in a cute small town right out side of Abilene, Texas a couple of weekends ago. Tyler got a new ride so we traded vehicles while we visited in Buffalo Gap. We ate at the neatest restaurant called "The Perini Ranch". This old hay barn was converted into a steak house. There was no air conditioning but was cooled by fans. We sat on old wooden benches and old Texas longhorns roamed the area. I bought a cook book from this restaurant and are hoping to get a few good meals out of it. I'll let ya know. If you ever have a chance to go to this restaurant... GO. It has the best food! Some of the served dishes have even been seen on the TODAY show! It was pretty amazing!
